Have you ever wondered how celebrities truly feel about adoption? If they are adopting just as a trend, or if it’s something more? It seems like we, as fans or the general public, are always interested in the goings on of those deemed “famous.” That celebrities are somehow a mile above us in terms of prestige and worthiness.
While celebrities have made fame and fortune out of their careers, it’s important to remember that underneath they are just as much human as the rest of us. Beneath the paperwork and makeup, they still desire to live life like the rest of us. This includes raising a family. Because of their careers however, celebrities often find themselves out of healthy child-bearing years once they have the opportunity to start their families; thus, they turn to adoption as a viable option.
Following is a non-exhaustive selection of celebrities, in no particular order, sharing their insights about adoption.
Inspiring Quotes from Celebrities
“You don’t have to give birth to someone to have a family. We’re all family — an extended family.” ~ Sandra Bullock
“I have a lot of respect for my birth mother. I know she must have had a lot of love for me to want to give what she felt was a better chance.” ~ Faith Hill
“If the standard route for creating a family had worked for me, I wouldn’t have met this child. I needed to know her. I needed to be her mother. She is, in every way, my daughter.” ~ Nia Vardalos
“When you have children, it’s the entire focus of your life. My capacity for job has been opened up in a way I never thought possible.” ~ Elizabeth Banks

“There’s no race, no religion, no class system, no color, nothing, no sexual orientation that makes us better than anyone else. We are all deserving of love.” ~ Sandra Bullock
“Little souls find their way to you, whether they’re from your womb or someone else’s.” ~ Sheryl Crow
“I always tell Genesis she was born from my heart, not my belly.” ~ Viola Davis
“I am convinced, completely convinced that there was nothing random about it. She is the daughter I should have. I never felt like I was on a rescue mission or anything like that. I just really wanted a baby; I was on a mission to connect with somebody, and Daisy and I got to meet each other this way at this time. We are so compatible.” ~ Meg Ryan
Adoption is an incredible journey and choice for anyone and everyone who chooses it. Celebrity status or not, adoption is a life-changing experience. Both children and adoptive parents benefit from it.

Support Adoption Choices
Adoption Choices, Inc. is partnering with Crowdrise, a fundraising website for nonprofits, to help our adoptive parents and birth parents with much needed financial assistance. We understand that expenses keep clients from fulfilling their dreams. Both with birth parents making a plan for adoption, and with adoptive parents growing their family. It is our mission to provide financial assistance through grants and scholarships, awarded annually in November, in honor of National Adoption Month. Funds assist adoptive parents with matching and placements, adoption finalization and helping birth mothers improve their lives through higher education — and much more.
However, we can’t do it alone. Please read up on our programs and donate money where you are able. Your donation will make a huge impact.
