Life After Adoption

Your feelings are valid and okay

Child adoption is often not an easy thing to process. It’s okay if you’re devastated by it or if you feel relieved and happy with your decision. It’s okay for you to miss your child and grieve the life that could have been, and it is also okay to look forward to moving on with the life you can have now. However you feel is perfectly okay and valid, and it is always ideal to seek counseling and emotional support whenever you need it.

Even if you have regrets or doubts about your adoption plan or process, it is okay to bring those up as well. If you are dissatisfied with the level of openness to your adoption or your relationship with the family feels strained, these are valid concerns that you should feel free to bring to our table.

Adoption Choices of Colorado can help you process your feelings

Adoption Choices of Colorado is always here to remind you that life does not end after an adoption; quite the contrary, the life you chose for yourself and your child will begin. Unplanned pregnancies often come at a time that does not align with your future plans and prevents you from living them. Raising a child can be very expensive and time-consuming, meaning it could delay future plans such as furthering your education and career, getting married, buying a house, and more.

Therefore, many women choose adoption in order to gain time to build the life they envision for themselves and ensure their child will be living the best life possible in the meantime. This ensures you can achieve your goals before starting a family, as many women choose to have children after an adoption. This is nothing to be ashamed of and is a great way for two new beautiful, loving families to be formed.

Adoption Choices of Colorado can give you all the assistance you need to move forward with your life after adoption. We offer free lifetime counseling support for adoption and can connect you with other birth parents experiencing the same feelings as you. These support sessions can help you find reasons to accept your decision, make choices about your future, and make lifelong friends with shared experiences.

Birth Mother Support Groups

What is a support group?

Adoption Choices of Colorado welcomes birth parents who have been through the adoption process–with any agency–to join our Post-Placement Support Groups. The purpose of a support group is to connect people who have been through a shared experience. You can all share your personal experiences, feelings, coping mechanisms, and advice with other birth mothers, as well as hear theirs in return. Sharing your struggles and positive experiences with each other gives you all an opportunity to grow together and feel less alone. Support groups are always a safe space, meaning that however you are feeling or whatever mentality you have, you will be heard and respected.

Our support groups

Adoption Choices of Colorado partners with Lifetime Healing to offer free monthly support groups in the Denver Metro area and Colorado Springs. These groups are made up of birth mothers who gather together to work on healing, grieving, and the way forward. The counselors who lead the groups are trained to help you cope with any feelings you may be having. Furthermore, chances are that someone else in the group will have experienced the same things as you.

At Adoption Choices of Colorado, we also offer a monthly support group in Golden, Colorado, on the second Monday of every month. Through this support group, we also provide food and childcare for anyone who needs it. If you want to know more information, you can visit our website.

If you are looking for adoption agencies in Colorado, Adoption Choices of Colorado is here for you. We want to provide counseling to you as the birth mother and whoever else is interested, including the birth father, your family, and anyone else. We want you to have a great support system, and we believe that ensuring that others around you understand adoption is crucial for your success.
