You’re pregnant. It wasn’t planned, but it happened anyway. Whether you are already a parent or not, unplanned pregnancies have a habit of turning your world upside down. You know that you can’t provide a good or healthy life for your baby, and you aren’t receiving any support from your family and friends. Perhaps you aren’t able to talk to them about it at all. What are you supposed to do?

Adoption Choices of Colorado is here to offer a solution. We are a full-service adoption agency that provides adoption services and encourages open adoption to all our prospective birth mothers. If you are willing to consider adoption as an option, we would love to talk to you about how placing your baby for adoption is the right choice.

Questions to Ask Yourself

An unexpected pregnancy can oftentimes require some deep soul-searching. Bringing a baby into the world and becoming a parent – whether it’s your first time or not – isn’t a decision that can be taken lightly. So, you may need to take some time and reflect on what you want to do. How the future is going to look. Several questions to ask yourself during this time should include:

  • Are you ready to be a parent?
  • Can you provide for your baby’s emotional, financial and physical needs?
  • Do you have a stable living situation?
  • If you already have children: can your household maintain the same quality of life with one more?
  • If you are a single parent: are you ready to raise a child on your own? Do you have a strong support system for when you need the extra hand?

If you answered no to any or all of those questions, you have a decision to make.

What & Who can Help You Decide

In years past, adoption has been a taboo topic. One that many birth mothers didn’t feel safe sharing. But, thankfully, our world’s current perception has changed for the better. You don’t have to journey through your unplanned pregnancy alone. So, if you are struggling with what to do, talk to trusted friends and family members. Talk with your nurses and doctors. See if there’s a support group in your area where you can gain insight from other birth mothers who have been through or who are going through something similar. Research everything you can either online or at your local library. Attend an adoption seminar. There are so many great people and resources to take advantage of when you’re not sure if placing your baby for adoption is the right choice. Adoption Choices of Colorado can talk you through your options and help connect you with other resources as you consider your options.

How You Know

You may be wondering: how do I know that placing my baby for adoption is the right choice? There is no easy answer for this. Every birth mother will have a different response as no two adoption stories are alike. Adoption is a personal choice. However, to help provide you with encouragement and comfort, we want to share some of the factors that helped other birth mothers. They chose adoption because they wanted to…

  • take control of her situation and her baby’s future
  • continue to pursue her own goals and build a better life for herself before parenthood
  • give her baby the opportunity to have his or her best chance at life through choosing a family that could provide everything she couldn’t
  • ensure that her baby grew up happy, safe and healthy in a loving home
  • put the best interests of her baby’s above her own

Adoption is the Right Choice

Adoption is an extremely personal decision. Adoption Choices of Colorado is happy to provide any and all information and educational resources we can; but, at the end of the day, we understand that you may need some time to think everything over. We will never force you into something you don’t want to do. That’s not how we do things. However, we can promise to walk with you every step of the way if you decide that placing your baby for adoption is the right choice for you.

Support Adoption Choices

CrowdriseAdoption Choices, Inc. is partnering with Crowdrise, a fundraising website for nonprofits, to help our adoptive parents and birth parents with much needed financial assistance. We understand that expenses keep clients from fulfilling their dreams. Both with birth parents making a plan for adoption, and with adoptive parents growing their family. It is our mission to provide financial assistance through grants and scholarships, awarded annually in November, in honor of National Adoption Month. Funds assist adoptive parents with matching and placements, adoption finalization and helping birth mothers improve their lives through higher education — and much more.

However, we can’t do it alone. Please read up on our programs and donate money where you are able. Your donation will make a huge impact.
